Intelligent design and popular culture: Stuffed toys of complex machinery inside cells?

Yes, apparently. The ID crowd loves the kinesin 2. So, Teddy, ... go eat your irreducibly complex little heart out.

Darwinism and popular culture: Encyclopedia Britannica in the 1970s

A friend draws my attention to this item in Britannica 15th:

“Darwin did two things: he showed that evolution was a fact contradicting scriptural legends of creation, and that its cause, natural selection, was automatic with no room for divine guidance or design.” The New Encyclopedia Britannica, 15th edition, 1973-74.

And peope wonder why there is an intelligent design controversy. Some of them, of course, are merely disingenuous. Others apparently haven’t read the course pack yet.
